Belgian Series Softball Men and Ladies – make or break this weekend
While all eyes are on the 2023 European Baseball Championship in the Czech Republic, there is also a lot to do at home this weekend. The softball season is approaching its conclusion in the national competitions for both the Softball Ladies and the Softball Men in the best-of-5 Belgian Series.
In Softball Men D1, the Hoboken Pioneers and Chicaboo’s Stabroek are currently competing for the national championship. The Pioneers – the 2022 champions – are of course keen to extend their title. However, a number of players from both teams are currently in the E.C. Baseball active for the Red Hawks. The score is currently 2-0 in favor of Chicaboo’s Stabroek.
Saturday, September 30, games 3 and 4 of the Belgian Series Softball Men will be played in Hoboken. It will be make or break for Pioneers who need to win both games to stay in the race. Chicaboo’s only need to win 1 game on Saturday. “Still all to play for” for Pioneers; game 3 starts at 1:30 PM on the Hoboken Pioneers softball field.
The battle for the Belgian Championship Softball Ladies is also intense. The ladies of Beveren Lions are going head to head against Mont-Saint-Guibert Phoenix. In the regular competition, the 2 finalists finished with only one game difference. After 2 games in the best-of-5 Belgian Series the score is 1-1. Games 3 and 4 will be played at Beveren on Sunday, October 1, from 1:30 PM. If one of the teams wins both games, they are Belgian champions. In the event of a tie, a super final will follow in Mont-Saint-Guibert on Sunday, October 8.
