Flemish Men Softball Teams won European Gold, Silver and Bronze this weekend!
The Brasschaat Braves won Gold this weekend at the Men’s European Super Cup Softball 2017 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. They beat the Czech Hippos Havlickuv B. with 3-2 in an exciting final. The Braves were without a doubt the best European Men’s Softball team out of 20 participating teams, with 9 wins out of 10 games. The Men’s European Super Cup is the Champions League for Fastpitch teams. A big deal for European International Softball Teams. A grand achievement for Flanders Softball.
Also, during this Fastpitch ESF Softball tournament, the Stabroek Chicaboo’s won silver and the Berendrecht Bears earned bronze in the ESF CUP. This is the European Softball Federation’s Cup for the bottom 8 teams (after the split with the top 12) of the Men’s European Super Cup. A clear sign that Flemish Softball is also internationally on the up and up.
Softball in Belgium is played in several gameplay formats. Being far from “Soft”, Fastpitch is played with a big tough yellow ball and is the fastest and most dynamic of the formats.
On 9 and 10 September 2017, a Belgian All Star Team will compete in the Softball Slow Pitch World Series Tournament in London. We’ll keep you posted.
