Sven Hendrickx announced his departure yesterday – after the European Championship baseball in Bonn – as head coach of the Red Hawks seniors.
This is not directly related to the result of Belgium at the European Championship but after 11 years Sven found it was time to hand over the torch to someone else.
In 11 years with many ups and few downs, the Red Hawks and the young Red Hawks (U23) were put back on the international map by Hendrickx and his coaching staff. The highlights were 2 consecutive bronze medals at the European U23 Baseball Championships (2017, 2019), a 4th place at the Super6 Tournament in 2018, a 6th place at the E.C. in 2016 and in the same year the European Baseball Coach of The Year award for Hendrickx.
The Red Hawks and the KBBSF-FRBBS board thank Sven for his excellent efforts and achievements and are looking for a worthy successor.
