U12 NT Baseball from 3 – 8 July to E.C. Qualifier 2023 in Sofia
The Belgian U12 National Baseball Team will start its E.C. qualifier Monday, July 3. Our youngest national team is back and eager to represent our country with an almost entirely new group of boys and girls.
Led by Jamie Flynn, supported by 4 coaches – including players from Red Hawks Dennis de Quint and Xander Verspreet – and together with 2 team leaders, this team has prepared well for this important hurdle to the E.C. U12.
At the level of our National Baseball and Softball Teams, a new way of working is in effect this year. With newly appointed managers and coaches, an advance is already being made on the Olympic Games in 2028. “The Olympic Games are a good motivator and a top sporting goal. The National Teams will have a continuous operation with longer term objectives. Players are trained nationally and regionally. We are also looking for much-needed sponsorship for uniforms and materials.”
For example, the U12 team held national try-outs in the winter with a great turnout, and with the help of enthusiastic volunteers and sponsors, they are able to pay for a large part of the expenses.
The U12 European Baseball Championship Qualifiers will be played from July 3-8, 2023 in Sofia Bulgaria.
Belgium will compete against Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine. The winner moves on to the next E.C.
A round robin will be played from Monday to Friday, with the top two teams meeting in the final on Saturday, July 8 at 11:00 am.
Belgium will play its first game against Bulgaria on Monday 3 July at 5 p.m.
